Overview
The Allurion Balloon is a new approach to weight loss. It does not require surgery, endoscopy,* or anaesthesia. The Allurion Balloon takes up space in your stomach, increasing the feeling of fullness and slowing the passage of food. This gives you the chance to take a "honeymoon from hunger", make healthier dietary choices, and avoid the cravings that often come with regular diets.
The balloon is swallowed during a brief 15-minute walk-in procedure. Approximately 16 weeks later, it deflates and passes out naturally.* It’s a convenient and safe way to kick-start a healthier lifestyle. On average patients lose 10-15% of their body weight thanks to the Allurion Programme.1
*In rare cases, the Allurion Balloon may be vomited at end of residence or require endoscopic or surgical intervention for removal.

The Procedure
The balloon is placed in your stomach during a brief 15-minute consultation with Dr Spiro. You swallow a capsule that contains the balloon attached to a thin tube. You will have an X-ray to make sure the capsule is in the stomach prior to filling. Once in your stomach, Dr Spiro will use the tube to fill the balloon with liquid. You will have a second X-ray to confirm the balloon is fully filled in the stomach. Dr Spiro will then gently remove the tube and you’ll be on your way.
