About
Dr Spiro is a general surgeon trained in upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery. She went to university in Sydney, NSW, and trained in NSW, ACT and VIC. Upper GI surgery or surgery of the oesophagus, stomach and intestines, has been her passion since medical school. She feels fortunate to be able to treat and care for patients within this sphere.
Ethos
Dr Spiro aims to provide an authentic and excellent surgical service. She believes in facilitating decision making and helping her patients to be the healthiest version of themselves.
Obesity
During her fellowship years, Dr Spiro has been trained in the service delivery and care of complex bariatric or obese patients. She manages their medical and post-operative issues and tries to keep her patients central to their care plans. She plans to deliver non-judgemental and integrated care to her patients in Canberra based on her experiences and training in a major public bariatric service.
